I'm planning a trip into the forest soon. And yes, before anyone even bothers to say it, I know that it's 'dangerous' and full of nasty little things. I've seen them; I've even hunted a few of the little fuckers. So please, no warnings. I know what I'm doing.

[Wolf is restless. She hasn't shifted in ages, and she's starting to feel the itch beneath her skin that means she needs to, soon. Not only that, her mind is a buzz with thoughts on several rather awkward subjects, and so she needs a release. A distraction. The forest is a good solution to both.]

Goliath. You mentioned before that this is your new protectorate; I wondered if you'd want to accompany me into the forest in order to explore it further. There are various paths to take, and it's a big forest.

Anyone else who wants to come, feel free. As long as you don't slow me down, I don't care.

[He doesn't believe that even for a moment.]

[She'd been roaming around anyways, so it's not like she's far away.]

[And Kevas takes a break from training to wait for her, waving her over when he spots her.]

[Wolf flops down on the ground when she reaches him, chewing her lip. Well, probably-]

Did... anyone you know show up with all those other people, Kev?

[Kevas sits down next to her and waits for her to begin.]

A couple actually.

Did they actually show up, though? Did you talk to them?

[She's staring off in the distance, eyes foggy.]

Or were they just... ghosts? Figments?

I held dem in my arms, kissed dem on dere heads. Dey knew me and I knew dem. Whatevah dey were, dey were real to me. If dey be real too joo, does it really mattah what dey be?

[That's about as philosophical as this troll is ever going to get.]

That's the thing. I don't know if they were.

I... thought I saw Taylor. Several times. But every time I went after him, he was never there. He'd just... vanish. I thought I saw Lucas, to, though I'm glad he was an illusion.

[The name comes out as a snarl, though the fight is quickly gone from her voice as she slumps, head against her knees.]

I even thought I saw Mikaela, but... none of them were real.

[Goliath's been meaning to look into the forest and he doesn't like having members of his clan going off by themselves.]

[She sincerely is. Hunting by herself is fine, but she swore to Kevas she'd never go alone. Having a friend along is more fun, anyways.]

I'm thinking tomorrow night. Be prepared to hunt, or, at least, to defend yourself. Some of the smaller creatures in that damn forest will try to hunt us just as we hunt them.

[Another shifter; a feline this time. Sarea can't resist throwing her own log into video, smirking at the page.]

Sure. S'long as you don't mind a wolf being your company. We're meeting at the forest near the Bower at nightfall tomorrow night. Feel free to come.

[Alex's fangs flash in his brief grin and he gives her a rough shake of the head.]

Not at all... been running with one since he got here.

[He then winks and gives a mock salute.]

[Kevas frowns, reaching over to put his arm around her shoulders]

Maybe dey were. Maybe dey weren't. Joo can't let dem what ifs get to joo or dey gonna drive joo crazy. In da end, joo always gonna have da memuhries joo made wid dem. Dose always gonna be real and ain't no mon can take dem from jah.

Besides, long as we keep lookin' I t'ink we gonna find da ones we lost.

[Wolf just leans into him, comforted but far from being consoled.]

Taylor's dead, Kev. No matter what universe I'm sucked into, he's going to stay that way. The others, though...

[Don't cry. For the love of god don't. CRY.]

It's just like the damn boat all over again, Kev. When is all this bullshit going to end?

[Kevas tucks her head under his chin and just continues to hold her. It's okay to cry Rae. He won't judge.]

We just keep stickin' toggedah. Toggedah we'll get t'roo dis, just like da boat. We'll find ouh peace. Joo be my liddle sistah and I ain't evah gonna let joo go if I can help it.

[A few tears manage to escape at that, but no more. She doesn't want to cry. Crying is like admitting defeat.]

You and the few friends I have here are about all that's keeping me together right now, Kev. And I thank the Gods that I have you. I'm just so sick of not knowing what's going on.

[Wolf blows out a breath, not dislodging herself but managing a faint laugh.]

We always end up in the worst situations, don't we, bro?

[Kevas lets her tears fall in silence, saying nothing about them. Instead he just pets her hair gently.]

So am I sweetheart. All I can do be protect joo and da rest of dis family da best I can and try to do right by all of jah.

[He smiles down at her. Kevas knows she's still just acting tough right now.]

Yeah, but we always suhvive dem.

And I'll do my damn best to protect you guys, to.

[Sarea's always acting tough. It's what keeps her from breaking down.]

Hah, somehow. Guess we're just that stubborn.

I know joo will.

[He gives her a small squeeze.]

Yeah, I noticed dat be sometin' dat be runnin' strong in dis family.

It's a good thing, Kev, it means we're hard to keep down.

[She manages a little grin.]
